Where are my recordings stored?
On your iPhone, in Daily Unload's private app storage, protected by iOS encryption and your device passcode. Audio is never uploaded — not to us, not to anyone. You can add a Face ID, Touch ID or passcode lock on top in Settings.
Does my voice get sent anywhere to be transcribed?
No. Speech recognition runs on your iPhone using Apple's on-device speech framework, so your voice never leaves the device.
What about the mood, the tags and Ask — where do those come from?
From a model at OpenAI, which receives the text of a vent — never the audio. It is off until you turn it on: the app asks first, and with it off vents are saved as plain transcripts and Ask is unavailable. Under OpenAI's API terms that text is not used to train their models.
Do I need an account?
Yes. Your journal syncs so it is there when you get a new iPhone, which needs somewhere to sync to. Sign up with an email address or use Sign in with Apple — with Apple's private relay we never see your real address. Transcripts are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before they are stored.
What is the difference between Raw and Clean?
Raw is the transcript as you said it. Clean is the same meaning with the filler words taken out. Both are kept, and you can switch between them on any vent.
Does the app work offline?
Yes. Recording, transcribing and reading back your journal all work with no connection — the app keeps its own copy on the device. Anything you wrote or deleted while offline syncs the next time you are online.
Can you recover a vent I deleted?
No. A deleted entry is removed from the app at once and purged from our database within 30 days, and its audio is gone from the device immediately. Export your journal first if you want to keep a copy.
How do I move my journal to a new iPhone?
Install the app and sign in. Your entries, moods and tags come back from the synced copy. The audio does not — recordings only ever exist on the phone that made them, so restore that phone's iCloud or Finder backup if you want them too.
What does Premium change?
Venting is unlimited and free, and every vent gets its transcript, mood and tags either way. On the free tier you can open your last 10 vents, ask 10 questions a month, and see your topics from this month. Premium opens your whole history, makes Ask unlimited, widens patterns to the last 30 days, and adds the weekly reflection, the 30-day look-back and the streak and mood widgets. Export is free at both tiers.
Is there a free trial?
No. There is nothing to forget to cancel: the free tier is what you get without paying, and you are charged from the start of the first billing period if you subscribe.
How do I restore my subscription on a new device?
Open the app and tap Restore Purchases. The App Store checks the Apple Account on the device and re-enables Premium.
How do I cancel?
In Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
How do I stop sending anything to the AI?
Turn it off in the app's Settings. From then on nothing is sent for processing, vents are saved as plain transcripts, and Ask stops working. What was already processed stays as it is.
Can I turn off usage analytics?
Yes — Settings → Share usage analytics. Analytics never include the text of a vent, its mood or its category; they record that something happened, not what you said.
How do I delete everything?
Settings → Delete all data erases every entry on the device and on our server, and keeps your account so you can start fresh. Settings → Account → Delete account removes the account and every row attached to it. Deleting the app alone removes only what is on that phone.
